Most guides on this topic are written by a connector vendor that points at its own tool in the end. profitkonsole sells no connector. We plug into your OTTO settlement data and show your real profit per product, no matter which route you pick. So we can tell you neutrally which one fits which setup.
The one question that decides it
Not "which tool is best" but: where does your master system live (the leading system for product data, prices and stock), and does it have an OTTO connector?
How connecting to OTTO Market works
OTTO Market runs on the Tradebyte platform, with the OTTO Market API on top for product data, prices, stock and orders. Whichever route you take, you always create your API access inside OTTO Partner Connect (OPC), the OTTO seller portal. That is the shared starting point.
There are three ways to connect your master system to OTTO:
- A connector for your system: a ready-made plugin or module for your shop or ERP that handles the connection without programming. The most common case.
- Tradebyte (TB.One): established middleware for larger catalogues and several marketplaces from one account.
- The direct OTTO Market API: your own integration, for sellers with in-house IT or systems without a ready connector.
Which route fits your master system?
In practice you usually already have a leading system, and that is what gets connected to OTTO. Find your row.
Master lives in an ERP
- JTL-Wawi: the de facto standard is Unicorn 2 by marcos software, which syncs items, offers, orders and status between JTL and OTTO. JTL's own SCX exists as well.
- Xentral: a native OTTO connector, or the Tradebyte connector via TB.One, both part of Xentral Connect.
- plentymarkets / plentyONE: the OTTO connection is built in natively.
- Odoo: via a connector module from the Odoo App Store (several vendors).
- Local ERPs (e.g. SelectLine, Subiekt, Comarch): usually no clean native OTTO path, so the connection runs through a channel manager or a bridge (see below).
Master lives in a shop system
- Shopware: magnalister (plugin, no coding, close OTTO development partner), Shopware Markets, or Tradebyte.
- Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento: via magnalister, which covers these and more.
Master lives in a channel manager
If a feed or channel manager is your leading system for marketplace selling, it handles the OTTO connection itself. Common choices are ChannelEngine (marketplace focus, real-time API), Channable (feed and advertising focus, popular in the Netherlands, connects Lightspeed and CCV Shop), EffectConnect (Dutch marketplace integrator), BaseLinker (the number-one order manager in Poland and CEE, with a ready OTTO integration) and Billbee (orders, stock, shipping labels).
No OTTO connector for your platform?
This is more common than you would think, especially for sellers from other EU countries. Many local shop and ERP platforms do not (yet) have a ready OTTO connection. A Polish example is IdoSell, a popular e-commerce platform that as of July 2026 has no native OTTO connection.
In that case there is no one-click solution off the shelf, but two workable routes: a channel manager as a bridge (for example BaseLinker, which can pull product data from your system and pass it to OTTO), or the direct OTTO Market API. Which one makes sense depends on your data flow, and this is exactly where we build you a solution.

The most common pitfalls
Whichever route you take, these are the usual first blockers:
- GTIN / EAN: OTTO requires valid product identifiers. Without them, items cannot be created.
- Attribute and category mapping: your fields have to map onto OTTO's categories and required attributes. This is usually the most time-consuming part, especially with large catalogues.
- Product data quality: clean titles, images at sufficient resolution, complete attributes.
- Stock synchronisation: stock has to flow back in real time, otherwise you oversell.
- Order status and returns: these have to stay in sync between OTTO and your system.
Connected. What now?
A connector moves your data: listings, orders, stock. What it does not show you is the thing that matters in the end, what is actually left per item. OTTO commissions are tiered, and on top of that come the monthly base fee, a commission on shipping, and returns.
That is where profitkonsole comes in. We are an OTTO service partner and read your actual settlement data through OTTO Partner Connect, set it against your cost of goods, shipping and ad spend, and show you contribution margin and profit per product and per brand. This works on top of any connector from this guide. profitkonsole sits above, not in between.
